Pencarrow Bred Strikes at Flemington

Pencarrow bred and sold Tintern (Pins x Annie Daly, by Spinning World) showed he is back to his best this preparation when beating a strong field of fifteen at Flemington on Group 1 Crown Oaks day.

The lightly tried five-year-old is raced by Lloyd and Sue Williams from the stable of John Sadler at Mt Macedon.

Unbeaten as a three-year-old in three starts, Tintern returned to winning form this season after missing racing as a four-year-old due to injury.

His come-back win could not have been more spectacular, with the strong bay running out a two-length winner in the $100,000 1800m event in front close to 100,000 racing fans gathered at Flemington.

His fourth win from eight starts came at the expense of another son of Pins in Lord Pindari, with Grail Jeuney finishing third.

Graeme Rogerson purchased Tintern on the behalf of Lloyd Williams at the 2006 Karaka Premier Sale from Pencarrow Stud.

Fetching $140,000, the son of Pins was the second foal of Annie Daly to be sold at Karaka, the first being a Danehill filly who went on to win two races in Australia.

Having now left two foals to race for two winners, Annie Daly has in the pipeline a three-year-old filly called Caldera (Tiger Hill) who has been retained to race by Pencarrow, along with her two-year-old colt by Storming Home.

A half-sister to four stakes-winners and from the family of Group 1 winners Art Connoisseur (winner of the 2009 Royal Ascot Golden Jubilee Stakes), Saoirse Abu (Mr Greeley), Balanchine (Storm Bird), and West Wind (Machiavellian), Annie Daly foaled down a colt by Commands this season (4 September) at Pencarrow with Group 1 winner Darci Brahma her mate for 2009.
