Let Loushe Bold

Following on from Pencarrow’s success with Tintern at Flemington, was the bold performance of Let Loushe (Black Minnaloushe x Pavan, by Centaine) to finish second in the Listed VRC Grazia Ultimate Style Guide Handicap (1100m).
His effort earned the six year old gelding his first placing in a stakes race, an achievement which means he will now appear in bold lettering in the international studbook.
Let Loushe is the winner of seven races from 1200m-1500m for his trainer Lee Freedman and his syndicate of 10 owners, with his placing yesterday taking his earnings to over $200,000.
Let Loushe, a $60,000 Karaka yearling purchase by BBA-Ireland, becomes the first black-type earner for his Group 1 NZ Oaks and Group 1 Australasian Oaks placed dam Pavan.
A daughter of Group 1 South Australian Oaks winner Marmalitre (Wolverton), Pavan is geared to leave outstanding gallopers who would be expected to appreciate extra distance.
However, in her son Let Loushe, she has left a high-class sprinter who looks to have thrown to his paternal grand-sire Storm Cat.
Pavan, now aged 15, has left three runners for three winners and currently has a three-year-old , Cash Melody (Elvstroem), in training with Bart Cummings, and a two-year-old, Sovereign Rose (Pins), in training with Mark Walker. Both fetched over $250,000 as yearlings at Karaka.
Pavan’s current yearling filly by Darci Brahma will be retained by Pencarrow for racing, while in 2009 the Centaine mare foaled a colt by Darci Brahma (16 October) and she visits the same Group 1 winning sire this season.
