Insouciant Making Excellent Progress

This season's New Zealand Bloodstock "Filly Of The Year", Insouciant, is coming up very well in her new preparation.

Shannon Melton, stable foreman for Insouciant's Matamata trainer Mark Walker, said the Keeper filly had come to hand very nicely since she has been back at the stables since early May.

"She looks very bright and is coming up very nicely. She could be ready to have a trial on July 8," Melton said.

Melton said Insouciant could be ready for a return to racing for her four-year-old campaign in the Listed Foxbridge Plate (1400m) at Te Rapa in August.

Her most significant win in the 2007/08 season came when she scored a resounding success in the Group 1 New Zealand Bloodstock 1000 Guineas at Riccarton.

She was also the winner of the Gr. 3 Eulogy Stakes (1600m) at Awapuni and finished second in the Gr. 2 Sir Tristram Fillies' Classic (2000m) at Te Rapa.
