Darci Brahma Wins Second Trial
13 Jan 2005Million-dollar yearling Darci Brahma will make his two-year-old race-day debut at Avondale at the end of this month.
This follows another emphatic trials win by the Mark Walker-trained two-year-old at Thursday's Paeroa's trials.
Darci Brahma, by Danehill from Grand Echezeaux, was the sale topper for $1.1 million at last year's Karaka Yearling Sales by David Ellis of Te Akau Stud from the draft of Pencarrow Stud.
Darci Brahma followed his first trial win at Taupo in October with a second trials win in a two-year-old 900m qualifying heat at Paeroa on Thursday afternoon. He won by one length in a time of 53.9 in the hands of Opie Bosson.
Walker said he was very happy with Darci Brahma's performance and confirmed he is now ready to make his race-day debut. There is a two-year-old 1200m event at Avondale on January 31 which is earmarked for him.
Walker said Darci Brahma won his second trial untested.
'He did it easily and showed a lot more gate speed in this trial than he had done in his first one,' Walker said.
'He is very professional and totally relaxed and took everything in his stride,' said Walker.
