Elvstroems Among Latest Foalings
30 Aug 2006 Two progeny of champion galloper Elvstroem are among the recent Pencarrow Stud foalings.

A daughter of Elvstroem and Solaia (by Anabaa) was the first filly born for Pencarrow Stud this year when foaled on August 18 and the same day a colt by the same five-times group one-winning sire from Pavan was born.

The foals are from the first crop of Elvstroem, whose deeds on the racetrack included wins in the Gr I VRC Derby, Gr I Caulfield Cup and the Gr I Dubai Duty Free Stakes.

Solaia is an unraced half-sister to the top galloper Al Mansour, whose 11 wins included three group ones (Queensland Guineas, QTC Sires' Produce Stakes and STC George Ryder Stakes.

Pavan is from the Gr I South Australian Oaks winner Marmalitre and was a winner of two races and twice runner-up at group one level (NZ Oaks and Australasian Oaks).

Also born on August 18 was a colt by the Highview Stud shuttle sire Johar from Loudenne, a stakes-placegetter and dam of Gr III Sunline Stakes winner Copper Mountain.

Five days later Desert Lily, a daughter of champion mare Habibiti and a member of the famous Eight Carat family, produced a Zabeel brother to dual group two winner Lafleur (ARC Royal Stakes, Sir Tristram Fillies Classic).

Other recent foalings for Pencarrow Stud include a Van Nistlerooy colt from Concert Party (a winning grand-daughter of Melbourne Cup winner Empire Rose), an Encosta de Lago filly from Kirin Belle (the winning dam of Gr II Queensland Guineas winner Winning Belle) and a filly by champion Australian sprinter Choisir from Silver And Rose (daughter of the Gr I Kentucky Oaks winner Blush With Pride).
