Win Number Five for Amaryllis

Pencarrow’s star four-year-old, Amaryllis, notched up another win to add to her impressive tally today at Arawa Park in the Platinum Homes Rotorua 1200 Rating 80 taking her record to five wins from 16 starts.

Adding to her impressive record Amaryllis set a new track record that had been held for 30 years in an extremely slick time of 1.08:97.

Partnered by Alvin Ng who claimed three kilos, Amaryllis (Red Ransom x Lafleur, by Zabeel) raced strongly midfield on the bit. Waiting for the gaps to open Alvin patiently held the mare together before bursting though midfield and holding off a late finish from Dane Fantasy.

Speaking to Trackside after the impressive win trainer Mark Walker stated that Amaryllis has come better with age and will come back to Arawa Park looking for Black Type that race being the Rotorua Stakes for Fillies and Mares over 1400m on 8 may.

A daughter of a dual Group II winning grand-daughter of the wonderful Group I winning race mare Habibti (by Habitat), Lafleur is from the famous Eight Carat family. Amaryllis is following the hoof prints of some very famous family members.

Lafleur’s 2006 colt by Johar sold for $240,000 to Mr Hajime Kaneko in Japan at the Karaka Yearling Sales. She has a two year old filly and a filly foal at foot, both by Redoute's Choice, who will be retained by the stud.

Lafleur is currently in foal to O’Reilly. A half sister to Lafleur is being presented at the National Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale in May Hameeda (Hector Protector x Habibti) at Lot 773.
