Diablo on Fire for New Season

Exciting son of Encosta de Lago, Encosta Diablo, showed he is on track for the new season in his first trial yesterday at Rangiora.

The three-year-old put in a strong performance on a heavy track over 800m. He jumped well from barrier one out of six, settling just behind the leader before travelling up nicely to the lead. He was challenged in the straight but he fought back well to win his trial in a dead heat.

Trainer Jason Bridgeman of Te Akau Racing Stables is pleased with the way Encosta Diablo is coming to hand and thinks that the trial will bring him along nicely.

Encosta Diablo is out of the Sir Tristram mare Devil’s Lair, who is the dam of the stakes winning Vapour Trail and Santagostino as well as stakes placed Glenview Lass.

Another trial winner for Pencarrow Stud yesterday was the Jan Hay trained mare Caldera. The four-year-old is by Tiger Hill and out of Annie Daly, a three-quarter-sister to the black type winning Thady Quill.
