Noble Manor Two for Two in Singapore

Noble Manor (Stravinsky – Sarwatch, by Jetball) made it two wins from two starts in Singapore overnight when he galloped to victory in a 1600m progressive race at Kranji.
The Pencarrow Stud-bred introduced himself to Singaporean race-goers with a first-up success just two weeks ago in a novice race over 1200m. The Laurie Laxon trained gelding relished the step up in distance, with the step up in grade not worrying him at all.
Noble Manor jumped well from the outside barrier in the six horse field quickly taking the lead in the hands of Saimee Jumait. Slightly over-racing over the first 800m, the son of Stravinsky led the field by close to six lengths at one stage before Jumait got him to settle and catch his breath from the half-way mark.
Approaching the turn the bay still travelled keenly, but with raw ability he was able to kick away from the field in the home straight, scoring by half a length from fellow kiwi-bred Restored (Red Ransom), in what could be described as a very impressive performance given the amount of work Noble Manor did at both ends of the race.
Noble Manor is from 2000 New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year Sarwatch, winner of the Group 2 ARC Royal Stakes (2000m). This family was developed over 25 years ago by the Velas when Country Charm (Northfields), the grand-dam of Sarwatch, was purchased in England. The family has been a fantastic success in Australasia, most notably through the deeds of the 1988-89 Champion Australasian three-year-old Riverina Charm (Sir Tristram), the winner of four Group 1 races.
Her daughter, Sarwatch, foaled a colt by Redoute’s Choice this season and is safely back in foal to last season’s Champion New Zealand Sire O’Reilly.
Noble Manor had given his owners Mark Wyborn, Trevor Farmer, and Peter and Philip Vela, a great deal of success in New Zealand, including running fourth in the 2008 Karaka Million, and the same partnership are now experiencing much the same success in Singapore, with more in store.
Noble Manor is expected to have a break now before coming back to contest the rich Singapore Challenge Three-Year-Old Series beginning on 6 June.
