Pencarrow bred and raced half sisters to Ethereal, Madeleine Noblet and an unnamed three-year-old by Montjeu, have crossed the Tasman to join the stable of Sheila Laxon and John Symons in Seymour, Victoria.

Entrusted with the training of Pencarrow star Ethereal (Rhythm x Romanee Conti, by Sir Tristram), Sheila Laxon took the super stayer to record her famous 2001 Melbourne Cup – Caulfield Cup double, as well victories in the Group 1 BMW Stakes and Group 1 Queensland Oaks, earning over A$4,750,000 in prize money.

Laxon will now have the opportunity to train Pencarrow -bred half-sisters to Ethereal, including a three-year-old filly who is bred to stay being by Group 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe winner Montjeu out of Hong Kong International Cup winner Romanee Conti (pictured).

Fully broken in, Ethereal’s half has been given plenty of time to mature, and will now have the luxury of being trained in the relaxed setting of Sheila Laxon and John Symons 100 acre Seymour property.

Newly developed, the property includes two training tracks of a combined length of 2300 metres, all fully fenced for the safety of horses and track riders.

A ten horse-walking machine, swimming pool, and day yards are also included, providing an opportunity to give a changing environment for all horses in training.

Further, JSL Racing Stables are only a short distance from the Seymour racetrack on which Racing Victoria have recently completed a $600,000 development of a synthetic track. Built for comfort and injury reduction, the synthetic track is a wax coated sand track with elastic fibre to provide cushion for horses in training.

Madeleine Noblet (No Excuse Needed x Romanee Conti, by Sir Tristram), a four-year-old half-sister to Ethereal who is bred on the same Mr. Prospector – Romanee Conti cross, will also join Laxon after eight starts in New Zealand.

Her objective will be to win a race in Victoria, after five placings in New Zealand, before visiting an unconfirmed Australian stallion in the new season.
