Sourced in Europe, Miss Sivivatu (Danehill Dancer x Ahdaab, by Rahy) joined the Pencarrow racing team with the view of performing on New Zealand race-tracks before entering stud as an internationally commercial broodmare.

Having placed four times in the latter part of last season Miss Sivivatu returned from a brief break at the Te Teko trials yesterday to win by close to two lengths.

Less than twelve hours later her full-brother Set Sail competed in the Group 1 Juddmonte International against the likes of See the Stars (Cape Cross), the highest rated three-year-old in the world, and Classic and multiple Group 1 winner Mastercraftsman (Danehill Dancer).

Sitting close to the pace Set Sail took over the running as Georgebernardshaw (Danehill Dancer) wiltered, however in the finishing stages the world’s best three-year-olds were too strong fighting out the finish ahead.

Set Sail held on gamely for third to record his first Group 1 placing, though he finished fourth in the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy at two, further enhancing the appeal of his Group 1 performing family.

Miss Sivivatu and Set Sail’s dam Ahdaab has left four foals to race all by Danehill Dancer or his sire Danehill. Three of these have won including Group 2 Woodbine Nassau Stakes winner and Group 1 placed Callwood Dancer (Danehill Dancer) and Group 3 placed Walklikeanegyptian (Danehill), as well as the now Group 1 placed Set Sail and Miss Sivivatu.

This is also the family of Group 1 winning sires Desert King (Danehill) and Maroof (Danzig).

Racing in the colours of Coolmore, Set Sail will undoubtedly contest further Group 1 races this season where good results will further increase the value of the now New Zealand-based and Pencarrow Stud owned Miss Sivivatu.

The well credentialed young mare will look to capture her first victory at Hawera on 3 September from the stable of Mark Walker.
