Pencarrow Speed Duo Go Head to Head in Singapore

Two speedsters bred and sold by Pencarrow Stud go head to head in Singapore’s feature race tonight.
The $95,000 Class 2 (1200m) event has attracted eleven entrants including Noble Manor (Stravinsky x Sarwatch, by Jetball) and Break Free (Fasliyev x Tehama, by Centaine), both four-year-old geldings sold as yearlingsby Pencarrow Stud at the 2007 Karaka Yearling Sales Series who now race in the Laurie Laxon stable.
Noble Manor performed admirably throughout his two and three-year-old careers, winning and placing fourth in the $1,000,000 Karaka Million at two before scoring four wins in Singapore as a three-year-old.
Now four, the $380,000 purchase’s best distance has clearly been identified as 1200m, and tonight he will be ridden by New Zealand’s leading rider James McDonald who makes his Kranji debut tonight on a fleeting two meeting visit.
Break Free sold on the opposite side of the spectrum to Noble Manor when secured for just $27,500 by Bruce Wallace at Karaka’s Select Session. He is now the winner of $270,000 in stakes after five wins from seventeen starts for Perfectum Stable.
A super consistent galloper who has never finished further back than sixth, Break Free excels at the shorter trips and tonight will carry two kilograms less than Noble Manor (55.5kg) with just 53.5kg.
