In a week which saw top race-mares Makybe Diva and Miss Andretti both foal, Ethereal last night joined the high profile mares by foaling down a healthy filly by Australia’s Champion sire Encosta de Lago.

Described by Pencarrow Stud Master Leon Casey as “a nicely marked bay with a bright white star on her forehead”, the filly is her sixth foal.

Well known for completing the Caulfield Cup –Melbourne Cup double in 2001, Ethereal threw Group 1 NZ Derby placed Uberalles (Giant’s Causeway) at her first foal, and incidentally, Uberalles foaled down her first foal with her mother last night.

Handling her first birth exceptionally well, Uberalles produced a bay filly by Group 1 winning sprinter and Group 1 producing sire Exceed and Excel.

Uberalles will be mated to successful Cambridge Stud sire Stravinsky this season while Ethereal’s mate will be announced in the coming week.
