Trial Win for Rock of Solitude

Pencarrow-bred colt Rock of Solitude won his first trial with ease yesterday for trainer David Hayes.

Running over 1000 metres at Morphettville, he jumped well from an outside barrier and cut across the field to sit outside the leader and draw away easily, the winning margin a half-length.

Purchased at the 2008 Karaka Premier Sale by Coolmore Australia for $550,000, the three-year-old is the first from the Stud’s winning Sadler’s Wells mare, Oh So Precious (IRE). His third dam is the outstanding Arc winning racemare All Along who won on nine occasions including five times at Group 1 level and was crowned USA Horse of the Year.

Oh So Precious has a colt by Zabeel to be offered by the Stud in the 2010 Karaka Premier Sale and has recently foaled a healthy full brother. She will be mated with freshman sire Alamosa this season.
Rocks of Solitude is from the first crop of dual Group 1 winner Fastnet Rock who was Australia’s Champion 3YO and Champion Sprinter in 2004-05. By Danehill, the Coolmore sire’s best performer to date is the Group 3 AJC Kindergarten Stakes winner Wanted.
