Pencarrow Maidens Prove Fertile in First Season
23 Sep 2009Well-related and well-performed Pencarrow maiden mares Insouciant (Keeper x Loudenne, by Palace Music) and Mirandola (O’Reilly x Paolino, by Housebuster) have both been tested in foal to their respective mates in mid-September.

New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year and Group 1 NZB 1000 Guineas winner Insouciant travelled across the Tasman Sea to visit More Than Ready in her maiden season.

As the sire of the past two Group 1 Golden Slipper winners More Than Ready (Southern Halo) has entrenched himself as a strong commercial sire in Australia and being Danzig free he suited Insouciant’s bloodlines.

Mirandola scored her most important victory as a two-year-old in the Listed Avondale Fillies Stakes.

A third generation stakes-winner, Mirandola has tested positive to Champion European three-year-old Henrythenavigator (Kingmambo) in her maiden season.

A winner of four Group 1 races over a mile last season as a three-year-old, Henrythenavigator hails from a wonderful European family that includes his Group 1 winning dam Sequoyah (Sadler's Wells)and her full sister Listen.

Both Insouciant and Mirandola will return to Pencarrow Stud after they have tested positive at 42 days, with both expected to foal in early August 2010 all going to plan.
