Huluava Justifies Warm Favouritism
05 Apr 2007Mark Walker-trained filly Huluava justified her strong favouritism with a resounding win at the Matamata meeting on Wednesday.

Ridden by Opie Bosson, Huluava stretched out well in the final stages to win by one length.

The filly was bred by her owners, Peter and Philip Vela, of Pencarrow Stud, near Hamilton.

She has now won two of her three race-day outings and Walker predicts she has a very bright future.

At her previous start she had won at Hastings in October but injured her fetlock on that occasion which meant she had to go out for a spell.

Huluava is a half-sister to the Listed Wairarapa Breeders' Stakes winner Vercors.

Her dam, Alpine (by Zabeel), is a sister to Gr.l Sydney Cup runner-up Manawa King and half-sister to Group 1 Ford Ellerslie Sires' Produce Stakes winner Lord Ted.
