Strong Arc Interest For Pencarrow Stud

Highly successful New Zealand thoroughbred breeding operation Pencarrow Stud will have a special reason to follow the fortunes of the French-trained runner, Zambezi Sun, in the 86th running of the Prix de l'arc de Triomphe (2400m) at Longchamp racecourse in France on Monday morning (NZ time).

Zambezi Sun will start among the favourites for Europe's richest horse race (in which the winner receives 1.14 million euros) and the three-year-old colt is closely related to one of the Pencarrow Stud-owned broodmares, Magical Moment (Sadler's Wells x Interval).

Magical Moment is a half-sister to Imbabala who in turn is the dam of Zambezi Sun.

Trained by Pascal Bary, Zambezi Sun should not be underestimated. Fourth in the Prix du Jockey-Club Mitsubishi Motors, he has since won the Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris
in decisive style. He will be ridden by Stéphane Pasquier.

This bodes well, since the young jockey won last year’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe aboard Rail Link who, like Zambezi Sun, carries the famous green and pink
silks of Prince Khalid Abdullah.
