Insouciant Wins Filly Of The Year Title

Pencarrow Stud owned-and-bred three-year-old filly Insouciant (Keeper x Loudenne) has claimed the title of the New Zealand Bloodstock Filly Of The Year for the 2007/08 season.

The final race in the prestigious 10-race series was contested at Trentham on Saturday with the running of the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks.

None of the leading contenders for the fillies' title earned points in the Oaks so this left front-running Insouciant clear to pick up the title.

Insouciant earned 22 points during the series, placing her one ahead of Kaatoon.

Insouciant's most important win of the season came in the Group 1 New Zealand Bloodstock 1000 Guineas at Riccarton last November.

Insouciant joins Noble Heights (1981/82), Sarwatch (1999/2000) and Vapour Trail (2001/02) as other Pencarrow Stud-bred fillies to win the title.
