Top Pencarrrow Team At Taupo Meeting

Pencarrow Stud will have a strong line-up of four runners at Wednesday's Taupo Racing Club meeting held at Taupo.

Heading the contingent is last season's Group 1 New Zealand One Thousand Guineas winner and New Zealand Bloodstock Filly Of The Year, Insouciant.

Mark Walker-trained four-year-old mare Insouciant (Keeper x Loudeene) has made two trials appearances already this campaign.

She won her first trial at Cambridge in July and then finished second behind star stablemate Princess Coup at Te Teko last week.

There will be plenty of interest in Insouciant's performance as she currently shares the favouritism on the TAB's fixed odds betting market for the Group 1 $250,000 Mudgway Partsworld Stakes (1400m) at Hastings on August 30 with Bulginbaah.

Insouciant lines up in the fourth race at 1.20pm - the Haunui Farm Stallions 1200 - and will come up against another daughter of Keeper, Keepa Cruisin. The pair will also face a stiff challenge from noted fresh-up runner Mufhasa.

Insouciant will be ridden at Taupo by Opie Bosson.

Amaryllis (3f Red Ransom x Lafleur), a trials winner at Te Teko last week, is ready to make an impression in her race-day debut in the Handsome Ransom 1200. Troy Harris has the mount.

Kudaam (Cape Cross x Shopping Spree), another trials winner at Te Teko last week, will line up in the final event, the Waikato Stud 1300. Opie Bosson will be aboard.

Concinnity (race 5), a mare by Rock Of Gibralatar from Anatomy, resumes racing and had little luck in two unplaced runs last season. Has the services of Samantha Collett.
