Satisfactory Run By Insouciant

Reigning New Zealand Bloodstock Filly Of The Year Insouciant didn't lose too many admirers with her fourth placing behind Mufhasa at today's Taupo Racing Club meeting.

Pencarrow Stud bred-and-raced Insouciant (Keeper x Loudenne), ridden by Opie Bosson, made much of the pace in the 1200m event but couldn't withstand the challenge of the winner in the home straight. Mufhasa is a proven fresh-up performer and has shown plenty of class.

Insouciant will benefit enormously from the outing, her first race-day outing of the season, according to trainer Mark Walker. It was a good hit-out for Insouciant today.

Last season's One Thousand Guineas winner is on target for a start in the Group 1 $250,000 Mudgway Partsworld Stakes (1400m) at Hastings on August 30 - the opening leg in the Hawke's Bay Triple Crown series.
