Velvet And Satin Produces First Foal

Multiple stakes performer Velvet And Satin has produced her first foal at Pencarrow Stud.

Velvet And Satin foaled a bay colt on Saturday by Pins at the farm owned by Peter and Philip Vela.

Velvet And Satin (Carnegie x Romanee Conti) was placed third in the Group 1 New Zealand Bloodstock 1000 Guineas at Riccarton and also recorded minor placings in the Group 2 Royal Stakes at Ellerslie and Listed Soliloquy Stakes at Ellerslie.

She is a half-sister to the Caulfield/Melbourne Cups winner Ethereal and will be mated this year to last season's Dewar Stallion Award Trophy winner O'Reilly.

Another foaling on Monday at Pencarrow has been from Pertinacious who foaled a bay colt by Keeper which was her first foal.

Pertinacious is a daughter of the New Zealand Bloodstock Filly Of The Year Sarwatch and a grand-daughter of top racemare and broodmare Riverina Charm.

Pertinacious will be bred to Pencarrow Stud's multiple Group 1 winner Darci Brahma this season.
