Miraflores Scores Second Win

The Crowded House Party Central Marquee December 27th (1800m) saw Miraflores wrap up a strong day for Pencarrow Stud, notching up their second win of the day.
The Steven Ramsay and Julia Ritchie trained Miraflores (Johar x Marie Claire) was too strong for the 15 strong field, putting in a winning bid in the hands of James McDonald to win by half a length.
The race also capped off a strong day for Jockey James McDonald as he rode home three winners in the meeting including the Pencarrow runner Pomellato (Zabeel) who won in the third race on the card.
The win was Miraflores’ second from nine raceday appearances. The win has taken her domestic rating to 70.
Bred by Peter and Philip Vela, the four-year-old mare is from the O’Reilly mare Marie Claire, a stakes winner who won six of her raceday starts and was second in the Group 1 Captain Cook Stakes. She is the dam of two foals to race for two winners in Miraflores and Miranda Miss.
Marie Claire is also a half-sister to the Group 3 winner Arrabeea (Zabeel) who won the Group 3 Doomben Classic and a half-sister to the dam of the stakes winner Bacchanal Woman (Encosta de Lago).
Marie Claire’s colt by Darci Brahma was bought by Mr FT Ritchie from Pencarrow Stud for $90,000 in the 2010 Karaka Premier Yearling Sale. She also has a colt by Pentire nominated for the 2011 Karaka Premier Yearling Sale, the yearling will be offered by Pencarrow Stud.
