Fears Nothing Snatches G2 Victory

The Pencarrow Stud bred gelding Fears Nothing justified his favouritism in the Group 2 $100,000 Rich Hill Mile with a barnstorming performance on an action-packed New Year’s Day at Ellerslie.

By Faltaat from the unraced Sadler’s Wells broodmare Magical Moment, Fears Nothing was sold by Pencarrow Stud at the 2007 Karaka Premier Sale for $70,000 to trainer David Haworth. The five-year-old is now raced by a group of owners that includes many who are familiar to the winner’s circle, including prominent South Island owner and sponsor Ray Coupland.

Now a winner of 7 of his 22 raceday starts, Fears Nothing has won $146,000 in prize money. Saturday’s win was his first black type victory, his previous black type coming from his third placing in the Waikato Guineas in January 2009.

2011 Karaka Select Sale will see Fears Nothing represented by a half brother by Excellent Art at Lot 1009. A son of Pivotal, Excellent Art was the Champion 3YO Miler in GB & Ireland in 2007 and includes the G1 Royal Ascot St James Palace Stakes in his victories.
