First Victory for Dolmabache

A strong performance from Pencarrow's regally bred filly Dolmabache in the Anderson Family Trust F&M Maiden (1670m) today at Paeroa saw her break her maiden status in fine style.

Trained by Steven Ramsay and Julia Ritchie and ridden by James McDonald, Dolmabache (Redoute’s Choice x Our Echezeaux) was too strong in the finishing stages of the race, winning by half a length.

It was a busy meeting for Pencarrow Stud at Paeroa, with Ethereal’s progeny Ebullient (4YO gelding by Stravinsky) running second in the Tony Richard’s Toyota Maiden (1150m), and Dayess (3YO filly by Stravinsky) running third in the Valley Toyota Thames Maiden (1670m).

The Johar mare Miraflores also ran second in the Peninsula Cars and Commercials Rating 70 (2200m) making a staggering total of 16 second placings for Rambo and Julia this season so far.

Dolmabache has had four career starts and has shown some potential without having much luck. She holds a nomination for the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks on March 19.

Well-bred, Dolmabache is out of the two-time winning mare Our Echezeaux (Zabeel), a full sister to the Group 1 winning mare Grand Echezeaux, the dam of the multiple Group 1 winner and sire Darci Brahma.

Grand Echezeaux has a Pins colt in the 2011 Karaka Premier Sale at Lot 346 in the Pencarrow Stud draft. She has had three horses sold through the ring for an average of over $1.5 million dollars.
