Steel Cut Takes Seventh Singapore Victory

Singapore tracks continue to be a happy hunting ground for Steel Cut, with the gelding taking his seventh win on the weekend in the Polytrack Class 5 1200m event.
Trained by the Champion Singapore Trainer, the kiwi Laurie Laxon, Steel Cut (Danehill x Miller’s Pride) continues to perform on the track at age seven, with his big late finish on Sunday taking his stakes earnings to over SGP $290,000.
A six time champion trainer in Singapore from only 10 seasons, Laxon has wasted no time in his search for title number seven in the 2011 season, already notching up 30 winners. His closest rival, fellow kiwi and 2010 Singapore Champion Trainer Steven Burridge, is currently sitting on 27 wins, with Mark Walker also having a strong season with 25 wins.
From a performing family, Steel Cut is from the Lammtarra mare Miller’s Pride, a daughter of the Group 1 placed Canadian Mill (Mill Reef) and a half-sister to the Group 2 winner Hawajiss (Kris). Also from the family is the Canadian Oaks winner Par Excellance and Group 1 winner Shuaily.
