Pencarrow Stud sold Martial Art has brought up his fifth career win in style over the weekend in the Singapore TC Revolte Stakes (2000m) at Kranji on Sunday.

Trained by kiwi master trainer Laurie Laxon, Martial Art (Tiger Hill x Kwan) was ridden a little worse than mid-field in transit and kept on the fence. In a patient ride, jockey Saimee Jumaat waited for the gap in the straight, and at the 300 metre mark asked the four-year-old to quicken. Showing a sustained turn-of-foot, Martial Art raced away from the field to win by a good two lengths at the post.

Martial Art’s 23 career starts have netted five wins, three of these coming in Singapore, with an additional five placings for stakes earnings of just shy of $300,000.

From an Irish family, Martial Art is from the Sadler’s Wells mare Kwan, a sister to the Group 3 winner Puerto Ric, a blood-sister to the Group 1 winner Fairy Heights (Fairy King), and a half-sister to the Group 3 winner Persian Brave (Persian Heights).

Laurie Laxon continues to lead the Singapore trainer’s premiership with 35 individual race wins, five clear of his nearest rival Steven Burridge who is sitting on 30 wins.

Martial Art was purchased by David Ellis of Te Akau Stud for $250,000 at New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2008 Karaka Premier Sale.
