Brela Belle Gives Darci Another Win

The Frank Ritchie trained Brela Belle broke her maiden status in fine fashion today when winning the Christmas At The Races - 12 Nov & 9 Dec TGA 3YO in the first at Tauranga.
Ridden by jockey Vinnie Colgan, Brela Belle (NZ) (ex Christiania Belle) is a daughter of the Pencarrow bred Darci Brahma, and was forced to fight in the final stages of the race as Pellegrini (Mr. Nancho) put up a good fight, but the filly was too strong at the post, winning by a long head.
A horse that showed plenty of promise at the trials where she placed in every event, she ran an eye catching second in her debut, a maiden three-year-old race in Taupo, where she was beaten only a half-head after finishing the race strongly.
Brela Belle is from the Group 2 winning mare Christiania Belle (Sackford) and is a half-sister to the Group 3 winner Zino Belle (Success Express). She holds a nomination for the Group 1 New Zealand Bloodstock 1000 Guineas in November.
From Darci Brahma’s first crop, Brela Belle is his ninth individual winner this season. A sire whose three-year-old crop have hit the ground running, his two-year-old stakes winning son Darci be Good has taken his second stakes race when winning the Group 3 Spring Stakes at Newcastle two weeks ago. He will be lining up in this weekend’s Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes in Sydney.
Racing at Ellerslie last Saturday saw Darci Brahma notch up his second stakes winner with his impressive daughter Artistic (ex Artless) beating the boys in the Listed Bone Crusher Stakes after breaking her maiden in her previous start. She too holds a nomination for the New Zealand Bloodstock 1000 Guineas.
