Ebullient Back with a Bang

The richly bred Ebullient showed he has plenty to offer over the summer and into the autumn with an impressive win at Taupo on December 30.

Ridden by Opie Bosson, Ebullient (Stravinsky x Ethereal, by Rhythm) bounced out to lead over the 1200 metre trip under jockey Opie Bosson and powered away in the straight to win by two-and-a-half lengths.

After 12 months off he was taken down to Christchurch for his first up run in the Listed Pegasus Stakes over the NZ Cup Carnival where he finished a nice fifth in the 1000 metre contest for trainers Steven Ramsay & Julia Ritchie.

“He won very well and I’m not exactly sure where he will go from here, the Darley Plate is in March but he won’t get in that well at the set weights and penalties at this stage,” commented co-trainer Steven Ramsay.

“There a couple of nice races coming up but it’s just about placing him properly so he can get some valuable black type for the pedigree.”

Ebullient is out of the Pencarrow bred and raced Ethereal who won the Caulfield/Melbourne Cup double and has already left the Group 1 NZ Derby runner up in Uberalles (Giant’s Causeway).

Pencarrow Stud will offer a colt by Encosta de Lago from Ethereal at NZB’s 2013 Karaka Premier Sale

Ethereal foaled a bay filly by Rip Van Winkle and visited O’Reilly in 2012.

Miuccia Belle (Pins) also ran at Taupo where she finished second and co-trainer Steven Ramsay thought she acquitted herself well.

“It was her first start out of maiden grade and we were very happy with her run, we haven’t got anything specific planned and we will just try to work her through the grades,” commented co-trainer Steven Ramsay.
