Super Junior Returns to Winning Form

Smart three-year-old Super Junior has produced a determined return to winning form with victory last night in a S$55,000 Class 4 1200 metre race at Kranji.

Trained by Michael Freedman, Super Junior (Darci Brahma x Summary, by Tierce) made quite an impression when winning his first two starts in Singapore in July and August last year before tackling tougher company at his subsequent two starts.

Last night’s race saw the three-year-old make a timely return to form with Singapore’s 3YO Triple Crown starting next weekend. Ridden by Manoel Nunes in last night’s race, Super Junior travelled just off the pace and was driven to the line in a tight finish to win by just under half-a-length.

Super Junior has now won three of his six starts for his owner the Joy N Happiness Stable who also race the superstar Super Easy, winner of the 2012 Singapore 3YO Triple Crown.

Both Super Junior and Super Easy are by the Pencarrow bred sire Darci Brahma who has made an excellent start to his stud career and currently sits in the top three in Singapore’s Sires’ Premierships by earnings and winners.

A well-bred colt, Super Junior is a half-brother to triple Group 2 winning mare Shikoba (Chief Bearhart) who was the 2006 New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year. His dam Summary is a half-sister to the stakes winner Cloister (Marauding) who is the dam of dual Group 1 winning sprinter Melito (Redoute's Choice).

Summary has a yearling colt at foot by the Group 1 winning sprinter Sakhee's Secret and was served by Darci Brahma last season.
