Chevremont Powers Back to Winning Best

Underrated mare Chevremont returned to her best form today at Dargaville after a string of hard luck in recent starts to win the $7,000 Rating 65 Rhys Dackers Livestock Agent @ Elders (2000m).

The Steven Ramsay & Julia Ritchie trained mare (No Excuse Needed x Figeac, by Zabeel) has not had all favours in recent starts, being forced to race wide and or well back in the field, but all that came to an end today under apprentice jockey Christopher Bell.

Bell kept Chevremont handy throughout today’s race and when he asked the four-year-old to quicken in the straight, the response was immediate and the pair raced away to a smart one length victory.

Chevremont broke her maiden at her third start in September last year over 1400 metres on a dead 4 track and she showed her liking for the surface again today where she took her second career win from nine starts.

Bred by Peter and Philip Vela, Chevremont is from the Zabeel mare Figeac who is a half-sister to the Pencarrow bred Group 3 winner Lord Pyrus and stakes winners Darcibee and Tehama. She also hails from the family of the classy sprinter Durham Town.

Figeac produced a filly by Iffraaj and was served by Dalghar last season.
