Atacama’s connections have confirmed a flying visit to the Melbourne spring carnival to further her domestic cups’ preparation.

Flemington has been confirmed as the next port of call for the last-start winner of the Listed Matamata Cup.

“She hit the line strongly there and she’s gone to a new level,” trainer Shaune Ritchie said.

“The Melbourne Cup day undercard can be a little bit soft and there’s a nice 1800 metre Listed race for her.

“She can go over on the Saturday night and get home again on the Wednesday night and that keeps the Counties and Waikato Cups on the radar.”
