Crawfish Craves Another Win

The ever consistent Pencarrow Stud graduate Crawfish (Elvstroem x Tamarino) caught another winning run on Saturday in the A$7,000 Blackall Magpies Handicap (1400m) at Blackall.

Trained by Raymond Frazer, Crawfish has been a winner from 1200m to 1600m on 12 occasions and has placed in a further 20 races from 70 starts.

Entering as race-favourite, Crawfish commenced from barrier 3 for jockey Cameron Dixon to win by three-quarters-of-a-length over Helluva Hurry (Dash for Cash) with Kev’s Destiny (Natural Destiny) in third place.

The eight-year-old gelding was purchased at New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2009 Premier Sale for $140,000 by Lakeview Resources from Pencarrow Stud and is now raced by trainer Raymond Frazer.

Bred by Sir Peter Vela and Philip Vela, the son of Elvstroem is out of Tamarino (Caerleon) who is a three-quarter-sister to stakes winner Danse Royale (Caerleon). Crawfish is a half-brother to Danalaga (Danehill), runner-up in the Listed Murray Bridge Gold Cup, who is also the dam of Group 1 New Zealand Oaks winner More Than Sacred (More Than Ready).
