Okanagan Too Powerful at Te Rapa

Promising Pencarrow gelding Okanagan brought up his second win from three career starts with a stylish performance at Te Rapa on Saturday, shining a light on a prolific Pencarrow Stud family.

Trained by Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman and ridden by Craig Grylls, Okanagan unwound powerfully down the outside of the Te Rapa track to reel in the tearaway leader Conjuring and record an emphatic victory by a length and a half.

The three-year-old had been an impressive winner on debut at Te Aroha in February.

Okanagan is by Testa Rossa out of the Centaine mare Inniskillen.

Inniskillen is a daughter of the Palace Music mare Loudenne, who has been a magnificent producer for Pencarrow including the NZB 1000 Guineas winner and Filly of the Year Insouciant, Group 3 winner Copper Mountain and Group 1 placegetter Chateauneuf Dupape.
