Talented Pencarrow four-year-old Purposeful (Sakhee’s Secret) cleared maidens in smart style at Pukekohe on Sunday, hinting that she could be well capable of further success at higher levels.

Ridden by Lisa Allpress for Cambridge trainer John Bell, Purposeful scored by a comfortable length in the Farrell’s Nurseries 1600, clocking a winning time of 1:37.46 for the 1600 metres.

Bred and raced by Sir Peter Vela, Purposeful is a daughter of the Pencarrow mare Pertinacious, a daughter of Montjeu and the New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year Sarwatch (Jetball). Stakes performers in Purposeful’s family include Paolino, Mirandola and Riverina Charm.
