Wildflower (NZ) Collects Another Win

Talented Pencarrow Stud mare Wildflower (NZ) (Keeper) capped a consistent form line with a strong win in Saturday’s $20,000 Speight’s Ale House Handicap (1500m) at Awapuni.

The Graham Richardson-trained mare, with Darryl Bradley in the saddle, came from well back in the field with a powerful finishing burst down the outside. She kept going strongly all the way to the line to win by a neck.

The four-year-old Wildflower has now had six starts for two wins, a placing and more than $22,000 in prize-money.

Bred and raced by Sir Peter Vela, Wildflower comes from a Pencarrow family rich in black type. The three-year-old filly is out of the Zabeel mare Zygadene (NZ), a winner and the dam of four-race winners Desert General (NZ) (Commands) and North Of Sunset (Red Ransom).

Zygadene is a full-sister to the dual Group Two winner Lafleur (NZ) (Zabeel), who is the dam of stakes winners Amaryllis (NZ) (Red Ransom) and Papilio (NZ) (Redoute’s Choice).
