Libretti (NZ) Too Tough at Thames

The Pencarrow racing team picked up another winner for the busy summer holiday racing period when Libretti (NZ) (Darci Brahma) scored at Thames on Thursday.

The five-year-old mare is trained by Steven Ramsay and Julia Ritchie and was ridden to victory in the $11,000 Normans Transport Morrinsville 2000 by New Zealand’s premiership-leading jockey Sam Collett.

Libretti edged out the three-race winner Princess Davone (NZ) (Iffraaj) by a head, with a similar margin to Staccato (NZ) (Swiss Ace) in third).

Libretti has now had 19 starts for three wins, eight placings and more than $29,000 in prize-money.

Bred and raced by Sir Peter Vela, Libretti is one of five winners from seven foals to race out of the Centaine mare Boito Belle (NZ) – a half-sister to the Group 1 performer Winning Belle (NZ) (Zabeel).

Winning Belle’s daughter Plucky Belle (Mossman) was a Group 1 winner, taking out the Coolmore Classic in Sydney.
