Felaar (NZ) Impresses at Ellerslie

Highly promising stayer Felaar (NZ) (Ekraar) carried the Pencarrow victories to a Derby day victory at Ellerslie in Saturday’s $50,000 Headquarters Viaduct 2100.

The son of Ekraar was well back in the 14-horse field approaching the home turn and had a huge amount of work to do, but he warmed up impressively in the straight and swept past the leaders to win by a length and a quarter.

Raced by Sir Peter Vela in partnership with Leo Molloy and trainer Stephen Marsh, Felaar has now had nine starts for two wins, four placings and $49,325 in prize-money.

Felaar was bred by Monovale Holdings Ltd and is one of three winners from three foals to race out of the Faltaat mare Felt That (NZ).
