Red Beach (NZ) Impressive on Debut

Pencarrow filly Red Beach (NZ) (Darci Brahma) began her racing career on a perfect note with an impressive debut victory at Woodville on Thursday.

Ridden by Matt Cameron for champion trainers Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, Red Beach showed early speed to take the lead in the $10,000 Scalatec Weighing Technology 1200. She quickened again in the straight, kicking away from her only challenger Shez Ekstra (NZ) (Ekraar) to win by a length and a quarter. The rest of the field finished another six lengths away.

Bred and raced by Sir Peter Vela, Red Beach is the first foal out of the unraced Red Ransom mare Red Magnolia.

Second dam Liliflora (Flying Spur) is a half-sister to the outstanding Royal Descent (Redoute’s Choice), who won five races including the Group 1 Australian Oaks, Group 2 (now Group 1) Warwick Stakes and Group 3 Adrian Knox Stakes. She also placed in six Group 1 races including the Doncaster Handicap.

The family also features the Group 2-winning mare Mulan Princess (NZ) (Kaapstad) and the well-performed New Zealand racehorse and sire Falkirk (NZ) (Tale of the Cat).
