Wild Child (NZ) Impressive at Tauherenikau

The Pencarrow racing team celebrated its second winner in as many days when Wild Child (NZ) (Darci Brahma) scored easily in Thursday’s $10,000 NZB Insurance Pearl Series 1000 at Tauherenikau.

Trained by Steven Ramsay and Julia Ritchie and with Rosie Myers in the saddle, the four-year-old mare sat in second place before taking the lead with 600 metres to run.

Wild Child sprinted stylishly from the home turn, winning by two and a half lengths in a fast time of 56.15 seconds for 1000 metres.

From eight raceday appearances, Wild Child has now picked up a win, a placing and more than $8,000 in prizemoney. Thursday’s win also earned her a Level B Pearl bonus of $11,500.

Wild Child was bred by Pencarrow Thoroughbreds Ltd and raced by Sir Peter Vela. She is out of Santangelo (NZ) (Lonhro), who won six races and placed at Group 3 level.

Like Wednesday’s Pencarrow winner Terra Firma (NZ) (Reliable Man), the second dam is the proven black-type producer Lucky Be Lucky (Storm Cat).
