Wild Child (NZ) Wins at Wanganui

A remarkable week for the Pencarrow Racing team continued at Wanganui on Thursday when Wild Child (NZ) (Darci Brahma) won the $10,000 G Bristol & Sons 1200.

The distinctive blue and white hooped colours were carried to two victories at Te Aroha last Friday, two more at Otaki on Monday and another at Matamata on Wednesday.

On Thursday it was Wild Child’s turn, going straight to the lead in the Rating 65 sprint and scoring a dominant front-running victory by two and a half lengths.

Trained by Steven Ramsay and Julia Ritchie, Wild Child has had 11 starts for two wins, two placings and $16,500 in prizemoney.

Wild Child was bred by Pencarrow Thoroughbreds Ltd and raced by Sir Peter Vela. She is out of Santangelo (NZ) (Lonhro), who won six races and placed at Group 3 level.

The second dam is the proven producer Lucky Be Lucky (Storm Cat). Her four winners include the Listed winner and multiple Group 2 placegetter Kolonel Kev (NZ) (Darci Brahma), while Santangelo, Terroir (NZ) (Danehill) and Mahalo (NZ) (Darci Brahma) boast 13 wins between them.
