Vichy (NZ) Scores Second Win

Pencarrow mare Vichy (NZ) (Cape Blanco) added another win to her promising career in Wednesday’s $10,000 Waimea Nurseries Mile at Hastings.

With Rosie Myers in the saddle, the lightly raced four-year-old raced in second before sticking her head in front at the top of the home straight. Chill (NZ) (Mastercraftsman) tried to fight back, but Vichy gradually got the upper hand and scored by a long neck. The rest of the field finished more than two lengths away.

Bred by Pencarrow Thoroughbreds Ltd and raced by Sir Peter Vela, Vichy has now had two wins and two placings in her five-start career, earning $15,500 in stakes. She is trained at Matamata by Graham Richardson and Gavin Parker.

Vichy is out of the stakes-winning Catbird mare Vercors (NZ), a half-sister to the Group 1 performer Hasselhoof (NZ) (Tavistock).

Vercors is the dam of four named foals, with all of them winners.
