Siren Call (NZ) Scores Impressive Te Teko Win

Well-related four-year-old Siren Call (NZ) (New Approach) cleared maiden grade in style at Te Teko on Monday.

Making the fourth start of her career, the Steven Ramsay and Julia Ritchie-trained runner outclassed her opposition by three and a quarter lengths in the $10,000 Gartshore Construction 1200. She was ridden by Danielle Johnson.

Siren Call has now had a win, a second, a fourth and a fifth from her four starts.

Bred and raced by Pencarrow Thoroughbreds’ Sir Peter Vela, Siren Call is by New Approach out of the high-class Oratorio mare Banchee (NZ). She won six races including the Gr. 1 Diamond Stakes and Gr. 2 Matamata Breeders’ Stakes, and she placed in the Karaka Million.

Banchee is a half-sister to the multiple Group One winner Katie Lee (Pins), whose Savabeel colt became the new Karaka 2018 sale-topper on Monday with a price tag of $1.025 million.
